Don’t let the golden gleam of those trophies cloud your vision.

I’ve been snagging awards every season since I left my hometown for a bigger, national market, with projects that sometimes stretch beyond the traditional briefs. But see: my daily work involves less-shiny things. (While they can be just as bright.) On a typical day, you’ll find me creating brand platforms, building pitch decks, and writing films — usually comedy, though most scripts die tragically.

This is exactly what I did for a long time in Brazil for brands of the likes of Danone, Honda, LG, Santander, Telefônica, Uber Eats, and Visa. (Much of which you won’t find in this book due to translation problemos.)

And this is exactly what I continued doing for Coca-Cola after being offered a job transfer to the U.S. four years ago; and now for clients like Coors Light and Xbox in my most recent stint.

This is exactly what I didn’t do during my year-and-a-half break from advertising, when this popular TV network invited me to come up with entertainment formats and pilots. Driven by a rare lack of self-restraint, I also directed, edited, and even appeared in front of the cameras (on purpose).

All this work has been featured in places like Billboard, Complex, ESPN, Fast Company, Forbes, Fox Sports, Hypebeast, Mashable, Rolling Stone, and more.

		<description>Coca-Cola - Thanks for Coke-CreatingRole: concept, copywriting, creative direction, video editing (case study).
For far too long, and far too often, Coca-Cola’s branding has faced unauthorized interpretations on the walls of mom-and-pop shops around the world. It was time to take action.


︎First, we promoted the Coke-Creations in the surroundings of each shop, reaching not ours but their audiences.

		<description>Coca-Cola - Free the Rhythms (Coke Studio)
Role: concept, copywriting, creative direction, video editing (case study).
Music algorithms have trapped an entire crop of young listeners in echo chambers, creating divisive fandoms and isolation. Quite the opposite of Coca-Cola’s longstanding values of inclusion and togetherness. It was the perfect storm for us to intervene.


︎Together with Jon Batiste, we created a hero track, then shared it with an unconventional mix of four young stars to collaborate on their verses. It premiered with a narrative music video in which these artists' different strengths – melody, lyrics, vocals, and performance – are visually combined into the song, while reflecting their individual styles. It has reached 14 million organic views on YouTube, in addition to TV and theaters.

︎The music video’s sets were recreated in a digital game. With phases inspired by the music video's story, fans had to progress through other artists to unlock exclusive material from their favorites.

A print and out-of-home campaign (and some vignettes) to celebrate Coca-Cola’s omnipresent relationship with the bar and restaurant world. We may not have settled who is the best burger, the rightful king of falafel, or the hors concours No. 1 pizza. But we did find out that whoever they are, they likely have a Coca-Cola sign on the door.
